Hi, I'm Emma Bruno!

I am a graphic designer from a small beach town called Englewood, Florida. I graduated Ringling College of Art & Design with a B.F.A. in Graphic and Interactive Communication. I became interested in graphic design in high school. It’s a way of communication that made sense to me and intrigued me. I began studying it at Savannah College of Art & Design, but soon realized that Savannah was much too far from the Gulf of Mexico. I transferred to Ringling College in Sarasota, FL and never looked back. I love everything to do with being in, on, and around water. I was a competitive swimmer for 13 years and continue to use my knowledge of the sport to teach all levels of swimmers. I am an avid adventurer (and misadventurer). On the weekends I will rarely be found relaxing. I’m more likely to be kayak-fishing Sarasota Bay in the middle of the night or getting capsized out of my canoe by monster alligators on the Myakka River. Feel free to contact me if you need design work or a good adventure.

Asolo Repertory Theatre
I work as a graphic design associate at Asolo Rep. As a part of the marketing team, I create any marketing material that is needed for the theater. This includes print and digital advertisements, large and small scale signage, e-blasts, event invitations, and playbills.
Keep It Beautiful
Keep It Beautiful is a poster campaign working against the common habit of beach littering. Pieces of litter were collected from Sarasota area beaches and hand-painted with the landscapes in which they came from.
Spars & Tacks
Spars & Tacks is a member outreach publication put out by the Sarasota Yacht Club. This publication has been used by the Club for years, but recently underwent a dramatic redesign. S&T used to take the shape of a simple newsletter with far too much type and overcrowded spreads. The goal of the redesign was to transform it into something far more professional and modern.
SYC Invitational Regatta
This is the branding for the 2016 Sarasota Yacht Club Invitational Regatta. The logo is a vintage inspired badge with an illustration of Sarasota Bay and the locally iconic Ringling Bridge.
Personal Logo Development
I wanted to create a logo that represents my work and my lifestyle. Beginning with a hand drawn drop cap design, I created something that represents surf culture, modern design, and most importantly, myself.
Be__.
Be__. is a social media campaign with the purpose of empowering women and starting a conversation about the effects of sexual harassment and sexism. The campaign is fueled by the community it builds and gives victims a way to speak out about their experiences.
Be__. Exhibition
This piece was printed on a nine foot tall banner for an exhibition at Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, FL on May 10th 2016. This banner was created from material gathered through the Be__. project.
Candlelight Vigil for Pulse
On June 13, 2016 the City of Sarasota held a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting. The community gathered together to say their names and to remember one of Sarasota's own, "Top Hat" Eddie. All photos are shot on a Nikon D5100, 55-200mm lens.
Sarasota Police Department Brochure Design
Crossroads
Crossroads is a restaurant and music venue concept inspired by the Mississippi Delta Blues and its voodoo folk lore.
Drunken Portraits
This project was a revamp on the typical engagement session. Rather than dressing up, finding a pretty location, and planning out poses; we decided to find a bar. After a little bit of good Bourbon, we captured images with an incredible amount of personality and love.
Ecology
This is a redesign of the Ecology TimeLife book published in the 1960s. I chose to counter the serious nature of the original design with quirky and imperfect hand written titles, hand drawn illustrations, and hand cut collages.
Photography
This is a small collection of my freelance photography work. I have photographed weddings, events, sports, and portraits.
